unaccustomed as I am to public speaking…
…there’s a chance I might have to speak in front of a large roomful of people at JavaOne in May. And speak knowledgeably as well, which is always a challenge for me.
I submitted a proposal for a Technical Session paper back in early December, and am just waiting on the ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ from the JavaOne folks, which is going to be any day now.
The thing is I am not sure whether I want it to happen or not: we’re going to JavaOne anyway, but doing a Technical Session is a scary prospect. Aside from my unimpressive public speaking credentials, last years’ sessions were mostly of a very high technical standard too, so I have two hurdles to jump. I guess I am looking forward to doing it, but just crapping the hell out of myself at the same time.
I’m also not sure the old saying about picturing your audience naked to make public speaking less scary is going to do me any favours at the JavaOne conference.
